Who qualifies for debt counselling?

You may qualify if:

  1. You struggle to meet monthly debt repayments

  2. Over 50% of your income goes towards debt

  3. Your debt-to-income (DTI) ratio is above 40%

  4. You have a stable monthly income

How to calculate your DTI:

DTI = (Total monthly debt ÷ Gross monthly income) × 100

Example: If you pay R9,000 towards debt and earn R20,000:
(9,000 ÷ 20,000) × 100 = 45%
